Good Day Lancaster Photography Association,

As you may know, the Antelope Valley will be getting an Air Show this coming March. One of the proposed offerings of this show will be a Air Show Photo Tour which will allow non-credentialed photographers (for a fee) an opportunity to photograph the aircraft at sunrise and sunset without the general public being in their shots. We're also looking at establishing a couple of "Photo Tour Only" spots in key locations along the runway for photographers participating in the Photo Tour. We're currently looking at several options and levels of Photo Tour participation and we hope to have them firmed up shortly.

I'm sending your organization this email is to ask if you have any Aviation Photographers in your organization who would like to volunteer to assist the organizers with this Photo Tour. We're especially looking for established Aviation Photographers who are good at their craft, knowledgeable of airport rules and method of operations, safety requirements and a willingness to help other photographers get their shots. The volunteer photographers would sign up to work in shifts on one, or both days. They would be allowed to shoot alongside the participants, but they would also be there to help guide them and ensure that their small group is complying with the Tour Rules and are shooting safely at all times. The preliminary thoughts are that the volunteer photographers will have access to both days of the show (this has not been set in stone, but it is very likely) only being interrupted by their volunteer service in one of the three proposed Photo Tour locations for one shift per day.

If you have a photographer who's interested, please have them email me their qualifications at bobdriver1@mac.com. I cannot guarantee everyone who applies will be accepted, but we will try to include as many as we can. We are asking the same thing from the Santa Clarita Valley Photographers Association and also from Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. We'd like to have the "best of the best" in the valley to help guide and educate aspiring aviation photographers on the Photo Tour.

The dates of the air show are March 21 and 22 (Friday and Saturday). There may be a Photo Tour experience on Wednesday the 20th if we can work out the logistics.

We look forward to hearing from your members.

Sincere Regards,
Bob Driver
