Valley Press -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LANCASTER - A variety of printmaking processes will be reflected through the work of nine artists in the Antelope Valley College Art Gallery exhibit "Imprint," on display from March 18 to April 17. The gallery is on the west end of the campus, 3041 West Ave. K.
"The show introduces the idea of the traditional print while also examining how the print has become a provocative arena for experiment and exploration by contemporary artists," said Christine Mugnolo, gallery director and curator for the show.
"Through their widely various works, these printmakers infuse the historic tradition of printmaking with a potent contemporary voice."
Some of the artists utilize traditional and labor-intensive processes such as mezzotint and etching, while others combine traditional methods with more contemporary technologies such as digital printing and photocopying.
Artists in the exhibit are Jamie Combs, Stacy Elko, Michael Litzau, Dora Lisa Rosenbaum, Karl Marti, Eva Nikolova, Michelle Rozic, Nicolas Shake and Joe Van Kerkhove.
An opening reception will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. March 18.
Gallery shows are free to the public. Parking is 50 cents.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
