For a comparison, I shot todays pictures (303 in all) in RAW+JPG Fine. The NEF shots came out A LOT better! How do I batch convert NEF to JPG? Is that possible or even necessary? Will conversion from NEF to JPG be a picture management issue? In my Windows Pictures file, the NEF shots are locked. In Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2, none are locked.
When in Adobe Bridge CS2-4, select your photos, go to: Tools/Photoshop/Image Prosessor, then choose how you want to process your images. I use this process all the time to convert my images from NEF to JPEGS. It works great!
Personally, I like trying out different shooting formats and RAW seems to be the winning choice. Right now, the ratio is probably 30-70 RAW vs JPG Fine. The combo of shooting in both formats at the same time was something I had to try.
As far as NEF shots locking up in Windows Picture file, I found that a bundled program with this new computer, NERO Essentials, was the culprit responsible. Why, I have no clue. So, I got rid of NERO and when I did, it took a heap of NEF data with it. That said, those NEF shots are gone. I still have those same shots though in JPG.
It does serve me to know how to convert those shots I take in straight RAW format. I'm printing out your suggestion to keep it handy. Again, thanks.
Thanks in advance for your help.
