Thank You for the endless hours that You have donated to our club, from organizing the meetings keeping track of what goes on in the meetings, organizing field trips ,workshops, competitions, finding judges, breakfasts, dinners, fundraisers, keeping track of club finances ,points, organizing the fair and the poppy festival, running and caring for the club,s equipment, setting up and taking down computers ,
projectors, projection screens, slide machines, audio equipment, the club newsletter and this forum, taking pictures of all print entries and competition winners and I am sure ,hundreds of other things
that I can not remember at this time.I have personally seen and benefited from most, if not all of You spend time with other club members (new and old) showing them what You could about their camera's and how to work them.
You do all of this on Your own time and without pay and for very little thanks. I can't imagine the club without You. All the rest of us have to do,is show up, sign our name, eat a snack and sit and watch all of You do
what it takes to run a wonderful program. The fact that the club has grown by leaps and bounds is a testament to what a good job that You do. I am broken hearted that all of You have been kicked strait in the pants
for all of your efforts on this forum the last few days and I wish to assure You that I appreciate all that You do and hope that this does not cause You to stop what You do for the club,That would be even more heart breaking.
Thank You again for all that You do.

Conditionally, I agree with what John just said. Conditionally, that is.

The fact of the matter cannot be over-looked nor swept under the carpet that senior members are the glue of this club. They know what to do, how to go about operating the club and some even have that high-horsepower photog background and expertise. Let's face it, if not for them, there might not be an LPA to belong to.

There have been some issues with a very limited handful of senior members in their relations with younger, less photographically adept members. Plus, I hear little wisps of talk going around that there has been some in-fighting as to how the club should be run, etc, etc. OK. Welcome to the real world where things don't always run smoothly. Attitudes clash. Personalities clash. Ideas clash. By the end of the day, what's best for the club as a whole?

Unfortunately, all senior members were painted with that very broad and angry brush which I think was a mistake.

Now that we have had a chance to belly up to the LPA table and air concerns, it appears that effective steps and creative new ideas are rising to the surface. That's progress. Now may be the time to cowboy-up as we embrace changes for the better while recognizing that change happens slowly.

Whether it be competition rule definitions, effective/proper two-way communication channels, doing what we can to get more members actively involved with their club, and/or setting up a dedicated “Help Center” within the club, these will take time. As long as we keep our eye on the prize of making LPA the best it can be, let's be patient and give change its due.
