I encourage the teaming up of the more experienced photographers with the photographers who need assistance in using their cameras. This is a great place for macro photography.

8th Annual – 2012 Ocean State International Exhibition of Photography-An open Color Projection Exhibition

Photographic Society of Rhode Island is proud to announce the 2012 Ocean State Color Projection Exhibition. The last year’s salon brought a very large number of excellent photography to PSRI from all over the world.

Each LPA member will enter one image 1024x768. Entries are being accepted online.

Any LPA member that enters will vote which images will be selected. They will give themselves “6” points, and then select six other images from 1st place to 6th place. Top six entries with the most points will be chosen for the competition.

Entries for LPA will close on October 18th. Judging will be completed by October 22nd.

ALL CLUB ENTRIES WILL RECEIVE AN ACCEPTED IMAGES SHOW CD.

Star Trails/Light Painting Workshop - Sept. 8

Archives

David Wilkins
Saddleback Butte State Park, 7-10PM at the Campground

Led by David and Chris Wilkins

This workshop is set up to help those who are going on the Mono Lake/Bodie trip and are not familiar with how to shoot star trails, but all members who are interested in learning more about star trails are welcome.  We will meet at the campground in Saddleback Butte Park at 7PM and go over how to shoot star trails.  As soon as it is dark enough we can go out in the Joshua’s and start shooting, expected to be about 8:30PM.

You absolutely must have a tripod, a cable release and a camera that has bulb mode.  A wide angle lens is recommended.  It is also a good idea to have a fully charged battery that you know will last at least one hour.  Bring a flashlight if you want to do some light painting.

Enter the park via 170th East and Ave K and go to the campground campfire center.  Please pay the day use fee at the kiosk at the entrance.  The entrance near 170th East and Ave J, the picnic area, will close and lock at sundown, so do not plan on using this entrance!

If you'd like to attend this trip, please sign up below.

Santa Monica Pier At Night Field Trip - July 14 2012

Archives

A 100-year old pier with a carousel, ferris wheel, rides, arcades, performers, food, people and an aquarium. There's a trapeze school, and fishermen. Lets shoot near and on the Santa Monica Pier before sunset and into the night! There is lots to see and photograph at and near the pier. So much to see during the day and then take a break for an early evening meal and come back for sunset shots.

For those of you with questions, yes it is legal to photograph at the pier. Tripods have to be folded as monopods when on the pier. You will be approached by security and asked if you are professional. Answer no and they will give you a sticker to wear (so you are not asked by the next security person).  (Filming/Photography for Commercial purposes requires a permit.)

If you'd like to attend, please sign up below so we have an idea of how many to expect.
