Meeting & Competition: January 17, 2012
The first competition of the new year will be held on January 17. The theme is Nature. The club parameters for this competition are as follows: NATURE - Something that exists in nature: An insect, butterflies, leaves, etc. Includes birds and fish, no man made objects. Reality Based. No elements may be moved, cloned, added, deleted, rearranged, or combined. No manipulation or modification is permitted except resizing, cropping, selective lightening or darkening, and restoration of original color of the scene. No special effect filters can be applied. Any sharpening must appear natural.
Digital, print and slide entries at all levels are welcome. If submitting print entries please try to submit a digital copy in addition so that the membership might more easily view your entry. Print submissions should be submitted by 5:45 pm the night of the competition to allow time for the print displays to be readied. Please submit your digital entries by 11:59 on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. The entry portal on the web is now open for this competition. Diane Racey will judge. A no-host dinner with the judge will be at the Greenhouse Café beginning at 4:30pm. All members are invited.
Diane joined her first camera club in 1981, has been a school photographer since 1982, and a very active member of PSA since 1985, as well as an active member of S4C. Diane started her photographic expedition in the darkroom with black & white, and has now gone digital. She has a background in Fine Arts.


Tylene Trout will be hosting a workshop on “Basic Photography and How to Use Your Camera”. Her photo presentation, with excellent photographic examples will expose you to composition, depth-of-field, automatic mode vs. creative mode, common problems, and other technical information. This workshop is geared towards beginning photographers, but even master photographers attend her workshops and can learn something new. Bring your cameras, your questions and your manuals. Experienced photographers will be on hand to answer your one-on-one questions pertaining to your camera. This workshop is open to the public.
