Seasons of Beauty and Bounty

We had 61 members and visitors attending our Nature program this evening. In which our guest speaker, Graham Owen gave a wonderful program titled “Seasons of Beauty & Bounty.” 

Graham has established himself as a natural photographer and artistic fly tyer. The detail of Graham’s “realistic insects” has won him International acclaim and award. Graham’s photographs reflect his eye on the natural world, demonstrating a unique style and melding of Realism and Artistic Impression. “Seasons of Beauty & Bounty” is a visual presentation displaying the natural delights of Southern California, from wide landscapes to individual flowers, leaves, and birds…all captured with an artistic flair.

Meeting & Competition, March 16, 2010

We had 57 members and visitors attend our Panorama ‘Open” Competition and General meeting.

We started our evening off with Helen Henry introducing our judge for the evening, Stuart Lynn, the presiding President from Coachella Valley Desert Camera Club. Since our theme was "Open" this month our members entered a variety of different pictures for our viewing. Mr. Lynn critiqued each and every picture entered in the competition. Even if you didn’t enter this evening, you still learned from the critiques. We had a total of 24 prints, 27 digitals, and 12 slides for the competition and thank Mr. Lynn and all the volunteers who assisted, and made the evening happen.

Panoramic Photography by Rene and Patty Caro

 

Our guest speakers this evening were Rene & Patty Caro, former LPA members.  After being in Durango Colorado for the past few years, they have returned with many wonderful panoramic photos, greenhouses and all of their cacti.

Rene and Patty shared tips and tricks on panoramic photography, both in the field and processing. They participated in many art shows in the area, and shared numerous tips on printing, mounting, hanging, and marketing your photos.

Meeting & Competition, January 26, 2010

We had 45 members and 13 visitors attend our Human Interest Competition and General meeting.

We started our evening off with Helen Henry introducing our judge for the evening, Susan Cowles, from PSA. Our theme was "Human Interest" this month and our members entered a total of 14 prints, 39 digitals, and 12 slides for the competition.

Thank you Susan and thank you to all the volunteers who assisted, and made the evening happen.

2009 LPA Holiday Party & Photo Contest


Meetings

It was a festive evening, full of great food, good friends, and lots of holiday fun. Over 55 people were in attendance.

Christmas music filled the room, and members came dressed in holiday attire. The tables were covered in red, with Poinsettias, candle holders, and decorative Christmas trees, all for the raffle at the end of the evening. Soon the aroma of hot lasagna wafted throughout the air. Yum, yum!

Lions, Tigers, and Bears… Oh My! No… Gators, Groupers, and Sharks… Oh my!!! Some of Lawrence Fealy’s photos looked like photos straight out of the movie “Jaws”. The jaws so wide, the teeth so sharp, the splashing water droplets so crisp… the photo, ½ in the water and ½ above ever so sharp! The eye so in focus! They were quite impressive, to say the least.

We had 64 members and visitors attend our Depth of Field Creatively Competition and General meeting.

We started our evening off with Bonnie Matthews handing out and briefly discussing a Membership Survey. This survey will be evaluated, and used to help plan future programs, competitions, workshops, field trips and other events that will best meet the needs and interests of our membership.

Then Sue Craft introduced our judge Ted Dayton, President of the Santa Clarita Photography club. Our theme was "Showing Depth of Field Creatively" this month and our members entered a total of 18 prints, 54 digitals, and 13 slides for the competition. Great participation and wonderful pictures enter by all!
